Yes, martingale collars with buckles are safe, especially when properly fitted. When getting a dog used to a martingale collar some may be irritated or distressed by putting a no buckle martingale on so a buckle martingale may be the better option. Keep in mind how hard your dog pulls when selecting a buckle type, we typically recommend plastic as the strongest option. The other factor to consider is whether your pup is sensitive to weight, if so a no buckle martingale may be a better choice.
